Starting a New Year

I sat in the courtyard as I thought about how this year will be. Things were a lot different here and the school was bigger. Hopefully things will be better.

I walked into the court yard with my notebook and sat under on a bench that was shaded by a tree. I looked at my notes and noticed a boy across the court yard. I didn't know him and I was to shy to say hi.

I saw a girl sit down. She was cute. I decided to go talk to her since I hadn't made any friends yet. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Um..pretty good. Glad to be back here. How about you?" I asked him.

Ravyn was walking through the court yard, not noticing the other people. Her head was full of thoughts about the letter she had received.

"Doing good. You don't mind if I sit her, do you? I'm new to this school. I transfered from Japan so I don't know any one yet. I'm Kenji."

"You can sit here if you want, and I'm Jasmine. But you can call me Jazz." I said to him with a small smile.

"Thanks." I said as I sat down. "You have a cute smile."

I blushed a little bit. "Thanks. So what was it like in Japan?"

"Hey Ravyn. What's up." I asked as I walked up to her.

"A lot different then here. London seems a little quieter then Japan. Japan is always busy with people. It's like they never rest. The school is different too. At my old school we weren't sorted into houses. Interesting concept though."

"Yeah. Alot of kids stay with the kids that are in the same house. This one group of friends, there are four of them, they are each in a different house. They are pretty nice. Keri is in Ravenclaw like me." I said to him.

"So I guess it's kind of like a clique." I smile. "And I'm in Ravenclaw too."

"OH." She shook her head, "Ello Pan!"

"Really? That's cool. So do you like it here so far?"

"So what's going on? You look like you're spacing out."

"Uh...I don't know."

"Yeah, it's great so far. Never been anywhere except Japan so this is a new experience, but it's good."

"You don't know? What's on your mind?"

"Well that's good. You'll like it here. Always something going on." I said to him laughing.

"Yeah, I'm sure I will. I'm liking it so far."

I smiled. "Yeah, Hogwarts is like a safe place for everyone."
